Introductory

The dawn of the 21st century has fostered a global society in which an invisible tie intertwines every nation with each other. In the midst of this interdependent world, international organizations such as the WTO (World Trade Organization), UN (United Nations) and WHO (World Health Organization) have expanded their roles within this globalized society. However, there are many other lesser known organizations that equally contribute to construct a more globalized world. In fact there are more than 400 organizations located in Geneva, Switzerland. For this summer during my high school junior year, I wanted to gain some perspective on the roles of these organizations in the world. With the development of internet and such, communication has paved way to a tighter-knit world where each nation is no longer independent. Globalization is an inevitable phenomenon; as far as it is concerned, these international organizations will assume bigger roles in the future and contribute much more to maintain an interweaved world. As these responsibilities will become more critical in the future, I thought that it is crucial that we all know what organizations there are and what they do in this world. I hope that through this blog, you will have a deeper insight into various international organizations and their role in this world.
