IEC

The International Electrotechnical Commission, IEC is a non-governmental organization established in 1906 sets international standards for any electronic related devices to perform, fit and work safely all together. Along with 80 members or so around the world, all IEC international standards are fully consensus based and every member state represents an equal voice in the IEC. The IEC is also one of the three global sister organizations (IEC,ISO,ITU) that develop international standards. It cooperates with ISO or ITU at times to make sure that these standards fit and agree together. These standards also facilitate global trade and technology transfer as they provide industry with a framework for economies of design and production, quality of products and better interoperability. Furthermore, the IEC has expanded its roles to fight global warming by creating improvements in energy efficiency and continues to mitigate climatic change by promoting smart electrification. The ultimate goal is to provide one test, one global certification and one mark for every product or system.
