WCC

The WCC (World Council of Churches) is an organization that seeks to unite and create a fellowship of churches around the world to show their united faith in Jesus Christ and to the only God. It was established in 1948 when representatives of 147 churches gathered in Amsterdam, Netherlands to hold its first assembly. The WCC members actively involve in mission services and uphold the true Christian ideals of world peace and serving human needs. As of right now, it has 349 church members of more than 140 countries around the world, representing true diversity of beliefs and traditions. However a common misconception is that the WCC is not a “super” or “supreme” church of all churches and that it does not uphold one particular conception of the church. The only common ground of the members is on the basis that Christ is the divine head of the body.
