UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund is a United Nations Program that aims to provide long-term humanitarian aid to children and mothers in less developed countries. UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. It strongly believes that the strong foundation of human progress within the nurturing of children and was created to serve others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. UNICEF is active in more than 190 countries through programs and national committees and encourages young people to speak out and participate in the decisions that affect their lives. In the midst of chaos after World War II, UNICEF was created in 1946 to provide food, clothing and healthcare to children in need. From then on, UNICEF has relied on generous contributions from governments and private donors and it is estimated that over 90 % of their revenue is distributed to Program Services. Most of UNICEF’s works occur in the field with staff in over 390 countries, carrying out its mission in particularly less developed countries.
