IRU

The International Road Transport Union (IRU), founded in 1948, upholds the interest of public transportation operators to promote economic growth and develop mobility of people. It was initially established after World War II to expedite the reconstruction of public transportation and facilitate road transport. Its current mission is to be the global voice of the road transport industry and to ensure sustainable development of road transport worldwide. Because the IRU believes that sustainable road transport industries are the backbones of strong economies, the IRU is expanding its mission into less developed countries. Just how the world is becoming a more interconnected place, the transportation of good and people plays a crucial role in the daily economic and social life, making the IRU all the more important. It currently holds 169 members in 73 countries in all over the world and collaborates with these members to create a better future for all.
