UICC

The Union for International Cancer Control (or UICC), as its name suggests, is the largest non-governmental organization that aims to fight cancer along with more than 400 member organizations across 120 countries. Established in 1933, cancer researchers recognized the need to pass on the awareness of cancer and hence founded this organization. Since then, the UICC has been fostering development among many cancer institutions by sharing and exchanging skills regarding cancer control. The UICC is not affiliated with any political or governmental influences as it maintains as a solid and neutral scientific organization. The UICC declared 11 specific goals to be achieved by 2020, some of them including a universal availability of effective pain relief and major improvement in cancer survival rates.  In order to raise awareness, there is the World Cancer day on February 4 each year that is coordinated by UICC. The organization mainly runs through donations and works in partnership with IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer), WHO (World Health Organization) and many other organizations.
