UNESCO

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization consists of 195 Members from all over the world works to create the conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values. Its top priorities lie with the situation in Africa and promoting gender equality throughout the world. UNESCO implements its activities through the five program areas of Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Culture, and Communication and Information. As part of its mission, UNESCO designates projects and places of cultural and scientific significance to maintain the awareness of cultural heritage and educate others through these designations. Every two years, UNESCO holds the General Conference that consists of the representatives of the States Members and determines the policies and the main lines of work of the organization. Furthermore each member casts one vote regardless of the size and set the programs and the budget of UNESCO. Through this, it aims to contribute to peace making, reduction of poverty levels and sustainable development through education, culture and communication.
